CHRONOLOGY
ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
POST OFFICE BOX 1979
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 60690
Office of the Chancellor
(312) 751-8220
July 1, 1988
Dear Friends of the Knanite Community:
As most of you know by now, the Bishop of Kottayam, Mar Kuriakose
Kunnacherry, has graciously released Father Cyriac Manthuruthil to serve the
Knanaya Syro-Malabar community under the direction of the Archbishop of Chicago.
Cardinal Bernardin has appointed Father Cyriac as the director of the ministry.
Father Cyriac is residing at St. Ferdinand Church, 5900 W. Barry Avenue, Chicago,
Illinois 60634. His private phone number is 622-5588.
Father Cyriac's arrival represents a new opportunity for the Knanite ministry. It is
a time for all to draw together in a spirit of unity, love, and reconciliation. He will
strive to serve all members of the Knanite community with zeal and dedication.
With the appointment of Father Cyriac as director, the ministry has been entrust-
ed to his direction. Thus, it is appropriate to dissolve the interim committee which has
generously assisted the ministry for some time. We are very grateful for their help.
To symbolize the new shape of the ministry, there will be a new name and a new
site for the celebrations. The official name of the ministry will be the Knanaya
Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago. At least for the time being, celebra-
tions will be at St. Henry Church, 6335 N. Hoyne Ave., Chicago. Mass will be held
every other Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. Amule parking is available.
To inaugurate the new Knanaya Catholic Mission, there will be a concelebrated
Mass at St. Henry's on Saturday, July 23rd at 6:30 p.m. It will be followed by a recep-
tion for Father Cyriac in the parish hall. We hope everyone will attend.
With cordial good wishes, I am
Sincerely yours in Christ,
